CPR Course Descriptions

BLS for Healthcare Providers

Length: 3 hours approximate

Description: The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

Audience: For healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

Card Type: BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card issued upon successful completion of the required Written Exam and Skills Test.

Cost: $50.00

**This is the required class for any student entering into an EMT program.**

Heartsaver AED/CPR

Length: 3 hours approximate

Description: Heartsaver AED/CPR Course teaches CPR and relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief of choking, using an AED machine, and use of barrier devices for all ages.

Audience: For those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

Card Type: Heartsaver AED/CPR Course Completion Card is issued upon successful completion of the Skills Test.

Cost: $40.00

Family & Friends CPR*

*This class requires a minimum of six students. Due to low registration and multiple cancellations, this class will be specially scheduled when a group meets the minimum registration requirement.

Length: 2.5 hours approximate

Description: The Family & Friends CPR program teaches how to perform CPR in adults, children, or infants and how to help and adult, child, or infant who is choking.

Audience: Family members, friends and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card.

Card Type: Participation card.

Cost: $30.00

** Minimum class size is 6 - if enrollment does not meet the minimum, class will be cancelled. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of acceptance into the class. **

Heartsaver First Aid

Description: The Heartsaver First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Content includes general principals, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies.

Course last approximately 2 hours.
